7-Day Money Back Guarantee — Full Terms
Everything the guarantee covers, what it costs if you return the vehicle, and what would end it early. Written in plain language so you know exactly what you're getting before you buy.

Who this applies to
The 7-Day Money Back Guarantee is available to buyers who purchase a vehicle from Gibbor Motors CC for cash and sign our 7-Day Trial Ownership Agreement at handover. It is a voluntary benefit we offer — it is not a right created by the Consumer Protection Act, the National Credit Act, or any other law, and a cash sale at our premises does not carry a statutory cooling-off period. We choose to offer it because we want you to feel sure about your decision.
If you're financing your purchase through a bank, a separate, similar arrangement applies — our 3-Day Trial Drive — with different mechanics because your finance documents are involved. Ask your salesperson which applies to you, or see the section below.
Before you can use the guarantee, we require:
- A valid roadworthy certificate for the vehicle, obtained by us before you take delivery. If you decline a roadworthy certificate or ask for delivery before one is ready, the 7-Day Trial is not available and the sale proceeds on standard terms without it.
- Completion of our Test Drive Experience before you buy — a minimum 20km test drive, plus a lift inspection at a certified workshop in your presence.
- A full digital Vehicle Condition Inspection Sheet, completed and reviewed with you before handover, recording every panel, tyre, and mechanical component. You'll get a copy by email.
How the 7 days work
Your trial period starts the moment you take delivery of the vehicle and ends at 17:00 on the seventh calendar day afterward.
To return the vehicle, you must:
- Notify us in writing — WhatsApp to 062 167 2232 or email to admin@gibbormotors.co.za — before 12:00 noon on Day 7. Notice to any other number or address doesn't count. Keep proof it was delivered (WhatsApp double ticks or an email receipt).
- Return the vehicle to our premises by 17:00 on Day 7, with all keys, documents, and accessories, clean and free of your belongings.
If you miss either deadline, the purchase becomes final and no refund is available after that point. We'll also try to reach you on Days 5, 6, and 7 as a courtesy reminder — but the deadlines above are what count, whether or not we reach you.
The mileage limit
You may drive up to 2,000km during the 7 days. If the odometer shows more than 2,000km driven from handover at any point, the purchase becomes final immediately and no return will be accepted, regardless of the reason.
If you return the vehicle: what you get back, and what's deducted
You'll receive the purchase price back, minus the following:
| Deduction | Amount / basis |
|---|---|
| Processing fee | A flat R1,000, applied to every return regardless of distance driven. Covers re-inspection, valeting, and admin. |
| Usage fee | R4.95 per km driven (odometer at return minus odometer at handover) — the SARS Simplified Prescribed Rate. |
| Damage not on the Inspection Sheet | Cost of repair, assessed by a repairer of our choosing. Covers panel damage, tyre/wheel/glass damage, interior damage, and damage from road conditions (potholes, gravel, debris — normal South African road risk, which becomes your responsibility from handover). |
| Wear-sensitive component failure | If a component confirmed satisfactory at handover (clutch, suspension, brakes, tyres) fails during the trial, it's presumed due to use unless you get an independent workshop assessment within 48 hours of the failure. |
| Outstanding fines | Any traffic fine, e-toll, or camera infringement incurred during the trial, plus a R250 handling fee per notice. |
Normal wear consistent with the kilometres you drove isn't charged — only damage beyond that.
Refund payment: paid by EFT within 24 hours of us accepting the vehicle back, exclusively into the bank account confirmed by your stamped bank letter on file. We cannot pay a refund to a different account, a spouse's account, or any third party — this is a firm FICA requirement.
Accidents and total loss
If the vehicle is involved in a genuine accident during the trial — meaning a collision or incident that triggers an insurance claim, causes structural damage, deploys an airbag, or renders the vehicle unroadworthy — the sale becomes final immediately and no refund applies. Minor cosmetic damage under R5,000 to repair is still handled as a normal deduction under the return process above; above that amount, we may decline the return at our discretion.
If the vehicle is stolen or declared a total loss during the trial, the sale is final. You keep any insurance proceeds or the recovered vehicle.
What ends the guarantee immediately
The following make the purchase final and unconditional the moment they happen, regardless of how many days remain:
- Driving more than 2,000km from handover
- Any modification, part substitution, or unauthorised repair to the vehicle
- Taking the vehicle outside South Africa without our prior written consent
- Using the vehicle for commercial hire, reward transport, motorsport, or off-road activity
- A genuine accident as defined above
- The vehicle being stolen or declared a total loss
Ownership, risk, and insurance during the trial
You own the vehicle and carry full risk (theft, accident, damage, loss) from the moment of handover — this doesn't change just because you're within your trial window. Insuring the vehicle is entirely your responsibility; we don't do it for you. For administrative reasons, the vehicle stays registered in Gibbor Motors' name until the trial ends or the sale is confirmed final — this is a paperwork convenience only and does not shift risk or liability back to us.
Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act
This guarantee is additional to your statutory rights, not a replacement for them. The CPA's six-month implied quality warranty applies regardless of whether you use the 7-day trial or not, and nothing in this guarantee limits it. If a defect was specifically disclosed to you on the Inspection Sheet and you accepted it, that specific disclosed item can't later be raised as a CPA quality claim — but anything not disclosed remains fully covered by your statutory rights.
Financing your purchase? The 3-Day Trial Drive
If you're buying through WesBank, MFC, ABSA Vehicle Finance, or another finance provider, you don't sign an Offer to Purchase or the 7-Day Trial Ownership Agreement with us in the same way — your agreement is with the bank. Instead, we offer a similar 3-Day Trial Drive: we hold your signed finance documents for 3 days before submitting them to the bank, giving you a short window to change your mind before the finance agreement becomes binding. It carries its own deposit, insurance, and tracking requirements. Ask your salesperson for the full 3-Day Trial Drive terms if this applies to you.
Disputes
If you disagree with a deduction or a decision under this guarantee, raise it with us in writing within 24 hours of receiving your Return Inspection Sheet. We'll always try to resolve things directly first. If we can't, either of us can refer the matter to an accredited mediator, then to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (miosa.co.za), before either party goes to court.
